The world is changing and it’s changing fast. It’s hard to imagine what it’s going to be like when this is all over but there are three things that are keeping me mentally healthy during this outbreak.
1. Turning Work Off
With most people being forced to work remotely, the majority of us are learning how to manage our home life and our life but at a pace that most of us probably weren’t ready for. Turning work off is going to be key to keeping you mentally healthy. Setting a time to be unavailable is okay. For me that’s 3 pm daily. I shut my computer and am done with “work”.
2. Create a Self Care Routine
Now more than ever creating a self-care routine is key. Not everyone’s self-care routine will look the same but it’s important to have one. It’s also important for your family to understand and respect the time you have carved out for yourself. Some self-care activities include: journaling, reading, meditating, dancing and painting. The list is endless. Self-care is anything you do to promote a happier and healthier mind.
One of my favorite self-care activities is:
Crafting affirmations that I say twice a day.
Yup. I love writing statements about myself that empower me to think about myself in a positive way. Writing affirmations is an excellent way to learn how to change your negative self-talk into a positive one. If you’re interested in learning more about how to create and use affirmations in your daily life you can sign up for F.I.T Academy #Weak2Concrete Affirmations Masterclass. I wrote a blog post about why affirmations need to be a part of your self-care routine. You can read more about it here.
