Teresa is a Christian Author who started writing books in 2017. Her unfortunate experiences with faith led her to seek the Lord and gain clarity as to why things in her life were not working like the Word claimed that they would if she believed. What she discovered was that it wasn’t faith that was not working but her application or lack thereof of it. Once she learned the principles of faith and applied them, things began to change drastically. She is the author of “A Faith That Works, Moving From Seeing To Believing”, “The Real Purpose Behind The Hat, The Broken Leading The Broken”, “Live Like You Know, Embracing Our Freedom In Christ”, and “STEP, The Day I Told Myself Enough Is Enough”. She is the mother of four grown men and she loves the Lord! Teresa is very passionate about faith and writes to motivate, inspire, and build up the body of Christ using her own personal experiences to push others into their own purposes. She is a lifter-upper of thine head! She has been purposefully created to build you up and bless your life!

LM: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
TS: I love people! I love to motivate, inspire, and build people up in their faith. I had so many challenges with faith growing up that now that I have somewhat mastered the application of it, I strive to teach others how to make faith work for them. I have always loved writing. I was never a person to confront people face to face, I would always write a letter to express my feelings. Much of my inner feelings and thoughts about life went on paper and I grew to express myself this way. Of course, this was all before the Lord gave me the boldness to speak! I have spent much of my life working in a Correctional setting, moving through the ranks from officer to Lieutenant. I have enjoyed pouring life into those who have allowed me access. The Lord says in Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and knock and if any man opens the door, I will come in and sup with him”. I have been told that I have a mean-looking face and people have re-framed from approaching me because of it. While it was funny to me, those who have dared to step through the door, have found nothing but hidden treasures and gems that have left their lives forever changed. What a Mighty God we serve!

LM: Tell us about your business.
TS: A Faith That Works Publishing Company is named after my first book “A Faith That Works”. Here I help others to write and publish their manuscripts. I also provide editing services, marketing, and promotions strategies to build an audience for my clients. Being a Life Coach and Teacher of Faith, I’m also able to provide healing to clients who seek help in any other area of their lives.

LM: What prompted you to start your business?
TS: Looking out of my window one day into a dying world. A world that seemed to have lost hope and only existing rather than living. I remembered what God had done for me and knew that I had to do something to bring hope to others. The Holy Spirit led me to leave my present job at the time and I did not understand why at first. Weeks later as I was lying on my bed, the Holy Spirit whispers “a faith that works”. I was prompted to do a website, start a Facebook page, and write out my own challenges with faith. The next thing I knew, I was publishing a book. I have since started my own online store “Faith It To Make It” where I make inspirational T-shirts and other items to encourage people in the faith.

LM: What’s the best part of being an entrepreneur?
TS: The best part of being an entrepreneur is all of the amazing people that I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from. There are actually people out there that want to see you WIN! People have given me information and knowledge to grow my business and have even connected me to others who have supported what I am trying to accomplish. I have enjoyed this journey. It has allowed me to meet people from all around the world. It has also allowed me to minister to others who have been hurt and broken and equipped me to bring hope and healing to them. I would not trade this for anything. If God has blessed you to come through your dark places, we should help others do the same.

LM: What’s the worst part of being an entrepreneur?
TS: The worse part of being an entrepreneur for me has been the lack of support from those that I thought would have been the first in line to support me. Support does not just come in the form of money. Finances are, however, needed for any business to flourish and do well. People always seem to assume that that’s what it’s all about, someone trying to scam them for a dollar. Support comes through sharing posts, making purchases, telling others about your business, etc. Because my business is faith-based, I struggle to get business. God is not that popular with people nowadays. People want something tangible that they can see, but I will keep on promoting Jesus Christ until He takes me home.
