Life is challenging. It is a fact that the past few years have hammered home. All the struggles of day-to-day life can really add up, and over time, can start to cause actual physical aches and pains, beyond the regular stress they cause. And while it can start to feel like pain is just a part of getting up in the morning, the truth is most physical pain is not normal. In fact, it can often be a sign that there is something bigger going on. Here are three pains that could indicate a bigger problem below the surface.

Frequent Headaches

The first type of pain that could indicate a bigger problem is frequent headaches. While a little headache here and there is very normal and is probably caused by something simple, like too little sleep, too little water, or too much stress, frequent headaches could be something a little more serious. If you experience painful and frequent headaches, with a headache occurring almost every other day, then you could be suffering from more serious issues, like inflammation around the brain, potential for a stroke, or intracranial pressure problems. Talk to your doctor if you get headaches very often.

Tooth Pain

Another common type of pain that can indicate much larger problems is tooth pain. It can be easy to brush tooth pain aside as something simple, like a budding cavity, or biting something the wrong way. But the truth is tooth pain could indicate something that requires dental professional work to solve, like impacted wisdom teeth. As many as 70% of people have their wisdom teeth removed at some point in their lives. If you have not had your wisdom teeth removed, and are experiencing tooth pain, you should talk to your dentist.

Back Pain

The final type of pain that could indicate a larger issue going on is back pain. While back pain is one of the most cited types of pain that becomes chronic with age, this doesn’t mean that back pain is normal or expected. Back pain can be caused by all sorts of things, from alignment issues with your spine, sedentary lifestyle, or something like sciatica. The only way to get your back pain fixed is to seek out the help of a doctor.

Pain is a part of life, but some pains are a bigger deal than others. If you are the type of person to ignore your aches and pains, this is a sign that you may want to give them a closer look. If you experience any of these three pains, you should talk to a doctor to make sure they aren’t an indicator of something worse yet to come.
