Have you ever been the other woman? Have you ever been so outside of yourself that you don’t even recognize yourself?  Allow me a moment to be very transparent with you.

As I look in the mirror, the person staring back is not the person I know. This person is weary and worn out. She is depressed and feels like she’s at her breaking point. For the past few years, she has been in a tumultuous relationship that’s had more lows than highs. But as some do on a roller coaster, she’s held on for dear life. Why? She doesn’t know. Her tear-streaked face is a norm and she has vowed, as she has many other times, that she’s done. She knows her value yet she stays with him. She has become the other woman.

Being the other woman is exhausting. Now before you jump to any conclusions, I’m not talking infidelity. That’s a whole ‘nother blog post, my friends. Let me clear this up quickly! Being the other woman is being someone you truly are not! It means accepting things you normally wouldn’t or doing things outside of your comfortability to please someone else. Being the other woman in this sense means being unauthentic with yourself and others.

I know I’m not alone. Many of us have been the other woman at some point in our lives. Many of us may still be there. But ladies, its time we stop being the other woman and start being the woman God has called us to be. See the bible tells us who we are.

  • “Fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14
  • “We are clothed with strength and dignity” Proverbs 31:25
  • “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way.” Song of Solomon 4:7
  • “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her”
    Luke 1:45
  • “She is worth far more than rubies” Proverbs 31:10

So if the Bible clearly tells us all of this, why do we not act like it? Why do we continue to think and behave as if we are not of any value? It’s because we’ve bought into narratives or stories that other’s have about us. Or we want so badly to impress others that we are willing to lose our identities to prove a point.

When will we stop playing ourselves? When will we decide that the mask must come off and if that means we risk everything then so be it? Change the narrative and stop being the “Other Woman”! It’s time ladies for us to walk in our own right and to be the woman God has called us to be. Get close to Him. We are women of worth!!

He said so in His word. So now ladies it’s time to walk in that right!!! Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to whom you belong!(Ephesians 2:19-22)
